IndexNow
A protocol that lets website owners instantly notify search engines about content changes. It eliminates waiting for crawlers and helps new pages get indexed within hours.
Understanding IndexNow
IndexNow is a simple protocol: when you publish or update content, you send a ping to participating search engines (Bing, Yandex, and others) with the URL. They then prioritize crawling that page, often indexing it within hours instead of days or weeks.
For businesses publishing frequent content — blog posts, product updates, landing pages — IndexNow ensures search visibility happens almost immediately. It's free to use and requires minimal technical setup.
IndexNow complements (but doesn't replace) your XML sitemap. The sitemap provides the full inventory of your pages; IndexNow provides real-time notifications about changes.
IndexNow in Canada
Canadian businesses targeting both English and French markets benefit from IndexNow by ensuring bilingual content updates are indexed simultaneously across search engines.

Frequently Asked Questions
Google has tested IndexNow but primarily relies on its own crawling infrastructure. However, Bing, Yandex, and other search engines actively support it, making it worthwhile for broader search visibility.
Generate an API key, host a verification file on your domain, and send HTTP POST requests with updated URLs whenever content changes. Most CMS platforms have plugins that automate this.
